The Caroline School is a day program for children with disabilities. This unique school was created for parents of children with disabilities who prefer a smaller, more inclusive learning environment for their children. With a staff to student ratio of 1:2, this school is truly different. Children are out of their wheelchairs, learning to move toward desired goals, finding outlets for their creativity, and maximizing self-help skills. Staff follows an individualized manipulative based curriculum. Total communication is utilized by staff so each child is exposed to oral speech, sign language, and a PEC (picture exchange) system enabling them to communicate in a manner that suits his or her ability. At the Caroline School, teachers focus on what a child can do, building skills slowly step by step.
To provide services that meet the physical, cognitive and social needs of children with development delay and their families. The Caroline School also meets the needs of children who are medically fragile.

The Caroline School was founded by Elizabeth DeLuca in the spring of 2002. Elizabeth is a mother of four girls. Her youngest daughter, Caroline, has multiple disabilities including severe mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. Through her daughter's disability, Elizabeth became acutely aware of the need for quality education for children with severe to profound developmental delays. This unique school was created for those who prefer a smaller, more custom learning environment for their children.
Based on demand, the need to reestablish the Caroline School arises from the issue of choice and making available an option for parents of children with significant disabilities who are seeking availability of a private alternative to existing public school special education programs. The focus is to meet the physical, cognitive and social needs of the child including available physical, occupational and speech therapy on site (billed through Medicaid or private pay). Dependent on length of child’s school day and child’s needs, tuition ranges from $900-$2,500/monthly (scholarships and financial aid may be available).
The Caroline School is expanding and currently accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year. For more information, please click here or contact
