Art Therapy The Caroline School receives Art Therapy from The River Performi n g an d Visual Arts Center, An Affiliate of Theater Under The Stars. The River has served children with disabilities since 1996. Art Therapy focuses on each students individual strengths focusing on social interaction, sensory integration and fine motor skills.
Music Therapy The Caroline School works with The Music Therapy Center of Houston to provide weekly group music therapy sessions. All of the music therapists who work with our students hold a degree in Music Therapy from various universities and are board certified. The American Music Therapy Association defines music therapy as "an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music Therapy improves the quality of life for persons who are well and meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses."
Gymboree Gymboree play groups incorporate engaging activities such as music, bubbles and parachure play to build cognitive, social and physical skills. All ages and disabilities from The Caroline School participate in Gymboree. The Gymboree director collaborates with The Caroline School teachers to incorporate each student's goals into the sessions so as to make the activities succesful for each child.
Pet Therapy Pet Therapy uses dogs specifically trained to work with individuals with disabilities.The students at The Caroline School groom, walk and play fetch with these amazing dogs.We have wonderful success stories of students overcoming their fear of animals through the implem entation of pet therapy.

Dance Therapy The Carol ine School participates in Dance Therapy.During dance therapy the students are exposed to different p hysical moveme nts associated with dance.The dance therapist works with the students on stretching,body awareness,and music and motion. All of the students at The Caroline School participate in dance therapy. Movements and body interaction are designed specifically for each child to accommodate all abilities.
